Welcome back MIG fans!
Last wrap was an absolute monster with the most games we've ever covered - 12 of them in fact, across all the grades. We've matched it again this round. Another 12 matches! And this wrap is even better as more results fell our way. Of the 12 matches played, we lost just 2, and they were by 1 wicket and 2 wickets respectively. Imagine going 12 for the 12! They could be our next wrap.
To summarise the action, we had grades 1-4 playing against Pennant Hills, two matches from 5th Grade (Epping and Lane Cove), two matches from the Chappelow Cup (Burwood and Georges River), the Metro Cup side played against tough Sydney Uni, Classics played Lindfield and Masters were up against Auburn, and finally our Frankies side played their second match, this one against Pennant Hills. See? Told you there was a lot of cricket. Before we get into the wraps from each grade, we need to promote one of the best days of the Warringah calendar year:

Round 5

4d./403
H Ferguson 116, J Stearman 79, W Davidson 74, R Sheahan 69*
Pennant Hills
190
P Day 5/19, L Molneux 2/57, S Barnett 1/10
Warringah won by 213 runs.
WCC First Grade returned home this week to face Pennant Hills. Hamish lost the toss and was surprisingly sent in to bat, despite the pitch appearing flat and the weather being ideal for batting. Hamish (116) and Davo (74) continued their strong form, putting on a 184-run opening partnership, just four runs short of their Round 1 record. This set the platform for a massive total, with contributions from Jack (79) and Regan (69*). WCC declared at 4/404 after 67 overs.
In the 10 overs remaining in the day, Pat Day struck early, removing the Pennant Hills opener. The WCC bowlers applied pressure, leaving Pennant Hills at 1/18 at stumps. The rain between Rounds 1 and 2 had raised hopes for a more bowler-friendly pitch, but the groundstaff's decision to keep the covers on throughout the week resulted in an even flatter track. Despite this, WCC started strongly, with Pat Day taking two early wickets to have Pennant Hills on the ropes at 3/22.
The MIG fought hard, trying various bowling options and innovative field placements to secure a first-innings win. Lachy Molneux bowled a solid spell of 21 overs, taking 2/57. However, it was Pat Day who stole the show with a sensational five-wicket haul (5/19), helping WCC bowl out Pennant Hills for 190. The victory secured WCC's first six points of the season, and the team celebrated with well-deserved winning Sydney Beer Co beers.

Warringah won outright by 9 wickets.
As the boys rolled in to Pennant Hills Oval, the commencing of fines saw the first dollars being collected as Jarod Colyer turned up, as usual, five minutes before the start of play. Skipper Shane Cook lost the toss and the men in green were sent out to field, much to the delight of opening bowler Roy Outred who claimed early wickets and had five before the tea break. Warringah met little resistance from Pennant Hills and successful bursts from Shane Cook and Callum Mckay (two wickets apiece) saw the hosts bowled out for 96, however, not before Callum Mckay experienced his weekly bad fortune with a catch going down and some interesting LBW calls.
Warringah came out for the chase and survived a tricky period of five overs before the tea break, before re-entering the field where runs began to come more easily. Opener Jimmy was dismissed but that only brought Will Akhurst to the crease who from ball one took down the Pennant Hills bowlers in belligerent fashion. Hitting some brutal shots alongside some easy on the eye batting, Will and Jay ensured the first innings win and carried on batting, both passing fifty. With a declaration looming, Jay fell but Will continued, eventually finishing 92* accompanied by a quick cameo of 29 from Lachie Johnson, a total lead of 90.
The green came out for a quick burst at the Pennant Hills batters before the end of play, with the typically grumpy Callum Mckay delivering a sharp spell, claiming one before the end of play. The men returned the following saturday with only the outright win on their minds. The success of the week before did not stop Jarod Colyer from arriving late once again however. The boys took the field and once more met little resistance from the Pennant Hills top order as wickets from Roy, Brad and Shane had them struggling early. Finally, Warringah were halted by some middle order resolve from Pennant Hills but that only lasted so long as Brad Morgan and Shane Cook claimed the final wickets to bowl them out for 147, leaving a chase of 58.
With almost half the day remaining, the men in green comfortably chased down the target of 58 with Jay finishing 35*, and a couple more delightful Will Akhurst boundaries getting Warringah over the line to claim the outright victory. This was another successful game for the Second Grade boys who moved to the top of the table under the leadership of Shane Cook.

Another Saturday, another beautiful day at Frank Gray Oval for the 3s boys and Kuch rocking up on time as per usual unlike the other slackers. The MIGs pulling off the covers to reveal a stunning Frankies deck, green as ever but if anyone’s every played on it, you know it’s a road after the new ball.
Nevertheless, skipper Rubes strolled out for the toss, the boys eager to see if he could win won, actually did! The boys were batting first, looking to put bulk runs on the board and send a statement. Dusty and Rubes opened up for us, punishing the bad and respecting the good ones. Unfortunately Rubes departed for a sensible 18 off not many more. Singhy copped a very questionable decision, trapped “in-front” for just 2, and quietly walked off. This followed by Dusty for 15 after a mistimed pull-shot not long after. We found ourselves in a spot of bother, collapsing, losing 4 for just 12 with Broomey missing a well directed yorker, and Lachy Coy middling one to a fielder who was just surprised as anyone to find out he had taken the catch. Kuch and Tommy Walker tried to steady the ship, soaking up as much pressure as they could, but not cashing in on singles (apologies Steve) and loose balls led to Pennant Hills ultimately taking their numbers. Special mention to the Pennant hills “spinners”, who bowled with arms as straight as Kaz and Kuch. 3s found ourselves 8/84. However, Charlie Wilson and Harry Burke stuck in there, letting the tail wag and wag, digging us out of a very deep hole, putting on a 44 partnership to get us to 129 all out.
Nevertheless, the fellas leapt out on to the field, confident in our bowlers to get the job done. Oh boy did they deliver, alongside excellent fielding, Singhy and Burkey grabbed 1 each to finish the days play having Pennant Hills 2/30. The next Saturday, we backed ourselves to get these last 8 wickets, and oh boy did we just. It was simply an outstanding bowling and fielding display from Burkey, Singhy, Tommy Walker, Charlie Wilson and Roachey. Roachy alongside his bowling, took one of the best catches you’ll see, full stretch to his right. Burkey was consistent as ever, extremely unlucky to only get the 1, with a dropped catch in gully and the P.H. skipper middling one to the keeper, given not out. Wilson was economical as ever, grabbing 2 for nothing. The standout in the first bowling innings was Tommy Walker, steaming in and bowling some genuine heat, the batsmen couldn’t even see it. Should’ve had a hat trick only to another dropped catch in the grippers. The MIGs skittled Penno for just 71.
We weren’t happy with just the 6 points however… Ruben and Dusty went back in, smashing the Penno bowlers and pitchers to all parts of the ground. Dusty smashed 53 off 47, with some absolute bombs. With the help of Singhy and Sentaro the Greek God, Rueben declared after just 18 overs after we’d put on 114, ultimately leading by 172.
Once again, backing ourselves to take the 10, we took to the field and continued where we left off, taking wicket after wicket, getting closer to that out-right win. Roachy taking another screamer, the boy can do no wrong. Our bowlers showed outstanding patience and resilience to simply outclass the P.H. side, having them all out for 70. There are too many key moments in the game to list, every single one of the 11 legends put their hand up and contributed throughout the game, having the belief that we could do it, and didn’t we just! Onto next week boys!

Day 1
On the back of the MIG4s first outright loss in recent memory (seriously, no one can remember or find the last time that happened), the reigning 4th grade premiers were keen to avenge last week’s hapless loss. But the last time we were out at Penno, we bowled them out for nothing and then got rolled for a little over half of nothing. So we knew we had to be at our best.
The Pumas won the toss and batted. Robbie and Ryan struggled early with movement and short square boundaries and they raced to 0/30. A quick change and Carlo and Rhino got it right and Penno quickly fell into a heap. 8/99 at lunch from 42 overs. Good over rate, great energy and a solid looking scoreboard. Olde (or “Smudgey”) bowled really well and got in on the wicket taking action as well. We struggled to break the 7th wicket, but old man Rowsey (or “Servo” as he is affectionately now known) eventually did that. Carlo and Rowsey hatched a short ball plan and it worked first ball, so the big bird finished with 5-for, his second socials shout out of the season. Then Rhino took the number 11. So, we needed 115 for a first innings lead.
Rohit on debut was given out to a VERY leg side LBW. Hard luck. That fired Rowsey up who got himself in trouble by loudly suggesting from the sideline that the umpires are missing a lot of no balls. Umps weren’t impressed, but the bowler didn’t bowl another one! Chappo given out lbw as well - possibly the victim of an angry umpire for Rowsey’s efforts – Mr Rowse the teacher can’t help but enforce the rules! Another few unlucky wickets (including another dubious LBW decision), a ball in the wrong place for young debutant Zac and Norto who was batting beautifully on 42 walking down the wicket and forgetting to connect with the ball and oooof, the MIGs were 7-88 at stumps. Zach D and Carlo at the wicket at stumps with Olde and Tipton to come. Only 27 needed for a first innings lead.
Day 2
Time for the young guns to step up and show they belong in the higher grades, and step up they did. Carlo and Zach got us over 115, almost without breaking a sweat. Carlo got out slog sweeping. Predictable. Then Robbie came in and slammed 15 of his own. But the story of the innings was Zach and Jimmy Olde’s last wicket partnership – which was unbeaten as Rowsey declared 77 runs ahead. The two added 54 runs, Jimmy’s highest MIG score and a mature and composed half century to Zach. From 7-88 we then added 2-104 – the MIG4 tail wags like a labrador at the sight of an unguarded steak. This was the best possible start as we begun to believe that our pursuit of outright points would be bare fruit.
Robbie and Ryan opened up and learned from their first innings mistakes and devastated the Penno batting line up. The Pumas were quickly 4-21 and we couldn’t believe it was going to be this easy. Penno still backed themselves though (good on them) and they kept playing cowboy shots and things they’ve seen on TV in the IPL – to great effect – they then scored 103 runs in quick time, losing just two wickets along the way. But RBT (Robbie) broke through, Will Toohey took a freakish catch to a ball that swung in, cut in, took the inside edge and WT launched himself toward square leg and pouched it. Harvey Matheson bowled smartly to trap the Penno skipper, and the last 4 wickets fell for just 12 runs. Now the MIGs were chasing 64 runs in 19 overs. Simple right?
Not exactly. Norto got out on the deep square boundary to the only bloody fielder there. Chappo got out trying to push the tempo caught at square as well. Zac got another questionable LBW (there’s a bright red cherry on the inside edge of his bat that wasn’t there before), and we were 3-9. Rohit and Rhino steadied the ship before Ryan got bewildered by the bowler (and the pitch too if we’re being fair). Toohey got a good one, and we’re 5-33. Rohit still there and Rowsey says “stuff this” and plays his ace – sends in Robbie Tipton to wrestle the match back our way. It was only 14 runs, but Robbie scored them quickly, allowing Rohit to play his natural game. Harvey came in after Robbie was given LBW (another one, really?) and our two debutants got us over the line. A really mature innings from Rohit showing he belongs in the higher grades.
A great outright result for the MIG4s, and an impressive effort from the young ‘uns to get us there. Kev now faces the difficult decision at Chairman of Selectors as to whether he should drop himself as skip and keep Rowsey on, or take the reigns and guide us to more finals glory. We’re a fan of the later!
Round 7
Warringah
6/140
A Pike 39, H Cruickshank 32, C Dickson 25*
Epping
137
J Conners 4/11, W Graham 3/28, C Dickson 1/23
Warringah won by 4 wickets.
Epping won the toss and elected to bat. Jess Connors got some early breakthroughs before a stubborn partnership pushed the Bulls total along. A direct hit run out by Cooper Dickson and Will Graham’s wicket departed both set batters. This swung momentum back to Warringah. Graham picked up another two as did Conners. Captain Clift also bowled well and dismissed the opposite captain. Epping Bulls were bowled out for 137.
Warringah began much like Epping with the loss of three early wickets. Angus Pike and Harley Cruickshank steadied the ship, and then continued on creating a large partnership before both were dismissed in the 30s. Will Cunningham batted assuredly and Cooper Dickson carried Warringah over the line with Cooper hitting a boundary to ensure the win by 4 wickets and with 10 balls spare.
Round 8
Warringah
1/68
C Conners 40*, A Gatehouse 34*
Lane Cove
67
O Higgins 4/9, L Gleeson 2/5, J Conners 2/17
Warringah won by 9 wickets.
Frank Gray, 12:15pm, where else would you rather be on a Sunday morning! The boys rocked up to the ground feeling hopeful for another win as we come a great win from the week before. Typical Frank Gray, a good grass coverage but rock solid, a good toss to lose! And that’s what captain Stu Higgins did, and we were sent into the field.
Our bowling attack has bowled with real confidence and venom the last few weeks, which followed suit into the weekends fixture. Cooper Dickson, ‘Dicko’ took first over bowling in reasonable areas however was unable to claim the first scalp for the MIGs, being hit for could have been the shot of the day. A lofted straight drive into the site screen 1st over wasn’t a bad way to start for Lane Cove. Jess followed suit, swinging the ball both ways in great areas, and was able to claim 2 in his 7 overs. Following the opening bowlers, captain Stu turned to son Oliver Higgins (Higgo) and Lucas Gleeson (Gleeso). They controlled the middle overs extremely well, with Gleeso able to grab some purchase off the wicket and Higgo bowling in extremely good areas. The Lane Cove batsmen were no match for either bowler, Higgo taking 4 and Gleeso 2 wickets respectively. Amidst the major middle order collapse, Gleeso took 2 in 2 balls and was on a Hatrick, as one of the Lane Cove batsmen told his team to quickly pad up as he wasn’t going to be lasting long. Some great comedic relief for coach Steve and beachy on the sidelines. With the Frankie’s boys watching along after the effortless win at Weldon, Gleeso was clapped in for his Hatrick ball, however, was only able to serve up waste high full toss. Clifty and Harley followed, with Clifty picking a wicket for himself as he sent his spaceships into orbit.
After 32.3 overs the field, with great line and length bowling, some fantastic fielding and never-ending chat from wicket keeper Caleb, the boys bowled Lane Cove out for a measly 67 runs. Captain Stu decided to shift the batting lineup as Alfie, Harry O, and Higgo had been tearing up the top order the past few matches. He decided Zach O’Sullivan and Caleb were the right men for the job with their eyes set on the small target of 68 to win. Able to capitalise on the swinging the ball, Lane Cove grabbed an early wicket, with Zach throwing his hands at a wide one. However, the Lane Cove bowlers were no match for what was to come with Alfie coming in at 3, as the boys finished the job within 12 overs losing no other wickets. With Caleb finishing the match with a quick fire 40* off 30 balls and Alfie’s 23*, they wrapped the game up with a 59-run partnership and brought it home with a well-deserved bonus point for round 8. Go MIGs!
Round 6
Warringah
258
M White 75, O Sinclair 51, H Campbell 45
Sydney Uni
9/259
O Fairchild 3/50, O Hansen 2/53, A Durairaj 1/25
Warringah lost by 1 wicket.
Round 6 of the Metropolitan Cup saw us take on Sydney University in a two-day game. We won the toss and chose to have a bat on a pretty flat wicket and a nice sunny day. We opened the batting with Pat White and Oscar Sinclair who got us started nicely. This soon changed in the second over when Pat was dismissed through a good catch. Harry McCracken came in next but was also quickly dismissed in the fourth over of the day. This had put Sydney in a good spot at 2/10 after 4 and we were looking for partnerships to form. Billy and Oscar Sinclair did just that by getting the momentum rolling and putting on a solid 50 runs before their partnership was broken by some good bowling to dismiss Billy LBW. Our captain, Matt White, came in to get the ball rolling and partnered up nicely with Oscar putting on another 50 runs. Oscar was awarded his well-earned 50 and then quickly given LBW leaving us 4/103. Ashwen and Matt put on some runs and then a much-needed partnership of 80 runs from Matt White and Harry Campbell created some serious momentum in the game. This was broken by some tight bowling and Matt was gone at 75 runs and leaving us 6/214. Harry C pushed on and scored some more runs despite a couple of quick wickets then was dismissed at 8/231 after earning his 45 runs with some class batting. Down to the last 2 wickets we were in a good spot looking to get to 250 and did just that with some good lower-order batting from Oscar Hansen, Sam Beaman, and Ollie Fairchild. We ended the day with some good runs on the board setting a score of 258. In that same day we had 4 overs left to bowl and Oscar H and Sam B closed out the day leaving them 0/2.
Day 2
The boys were rearing to get out to the middle on a cooler and overcast day and rip through Sydney's batting lineup. The rain throughout the week had created some wet spots around the ground so we had a slightly late start to dry them up before play. The day started off great with Ollie Fairchild in his first over of the game, and first ball, finding the edge for a comfortable catch to Billy behind the stumps. This was then backed up by Oscar H at the other end who sent the leg stump flying the very next over with some beautiful swing. Sydney were looking shaky at 2/10 however put up some good batting to guide the balls away and put on another 100 runs before Ashwen got them to hit a sitter which was taken by Ollie F. This created a bit of momentum as Oscar H continued the trend with some good bowling to force a catch. Then the boys showed some class fielding with Harry C showing his talents with a great runout. Then the very next ball in Ollie F’s over he produced some good swing to find the edge of the left-hander and a wobbly catch behind the stumps sent him walking on a golden duck. This left Sydney 6/119 after 42. Sydney batted carefully for the next 14 overs and were starting to gain some momentum however Oscar S got one to turn and ripped straight through to take out leg stump. We had Sydney 7/152 now and knew it was gonna be a hard fight to get these last wickets. Ollie F once again created a catch in cover to leave Sydney 8/202 after 66. The boys fought hard for the next 10 overs and Harry Mc created a catch that Qasim took beautifully on the boundary to give us a chance with Sydney Uni at 9/242. It was coming down to the wire, Ollie F and Harry Mc continued to bowl well with only 19 to win but Sydney didn't give us any chances and they slowly rolled away with the win.
Round 7
Warringah
4/102
J Pike 50*, F Sorohan 18
Burwood Briars Gold
101
H Fear 3/6, F Schneidereit 2/8, L Clarke 2/19
Warringah won by 6 wickets.
The Chappelow Cup boys had the privilege of playing on Weldon oval against arch rivals Burwood for round 6! We unfortunately lost the toss and were sent into bowl on a hot day. Dan Carrol and Cooper Vickery opened us up superbly with Lucas Clarke taking a great catch in the first over really setting the tone for the first innings. Then came on Nixon Kolodzinski going for a tight 1/10 off 4 and Freddie Schneidereit taking 2/8 off 8. A great spell to say the least. Harrison Fear then came into the attack with confidence in his eyes taking an unreal 3/6 off 4 spinning the ball around corners! Then to see us out came in Lucas Clarke hitting his line and length as usual taking 2/19 off 5 bowling Burwood Briars Gold out for 101!
The boys were really proud of themselves and we were confident we could pull through with the win. In came Finlay Sorohan and James Pike getting off to a great start and real intent with their running between the wickets. Finlay unfortunately getting a well fought 18. It came to drinks we were 2-74 after 20 which was much improved from past weeks. James Pike continued to bat superbly hitting 4s quick singles really showing his intent to score aggressively with an unbeaten 50* leading the boys to a convincing victory winning by 6 wickets. A great all round performance from everyone a good to get the win and sing that team song! Looking forward to next week as we take on Georges River!
Round 8
Warringah
9/120
D Baniya 36, W Cunningham 14, C Vickery 14
Georges River
8/122
F Schneidereit 6/24, C Vickery 1/19, L Clarke 1/32
Warringah lost by 2 wickets.
The Chappelow Cup boys made it out to Bland oval for round 7 against Georges River! We knew coming into this game they were going to be tough but we backed ourselves. The outfield was really long so we knew it was going to be a low scoring game. Cooper Vickery won the toss and elected to bat first where Fin Sorohan and James Pike opened us up! Fin got out early and not long after that we were 3/20 with James Pike picking out the fielder in the deep. Dipan Baniya came to the crease the momentum swung our way showing no fear hitting huge 6s and totally ignoring any pressure! The message before drinks was to get us to 60 and Dipan did exactly that! Managing 36 until he got caught on the boundary not long after drinks. Freddie Schneidereit got a well fought 10 with Will Cunningham getting a solid 14 as well with Cooper Vickery getting 14.
From there the boys only had 6 overs and we were at 100. Harrison Fear and Ethan Crookwell got us to the end managing 120 in the end and we were confident we could defend! The message going into bowl was to bowl tight! Cooper Vickery opened us up well snagging a wicket in the first over (1-19 off 3) Lucas Clarke (1-32 off 8) also getting an early one a great start!
Georges River were coming after us though slogging to all corner of the park so we brought spin on early and boy did Freddie Schneidereit bowl well Wicket after Wicket after Wicket he was on fire! A superb spell to say the least managing an impressive 6/24 off 8! After Freddie finished his spell Nixon Kolodzinski put the foot on the throat showing no width bowling to his field perfectly getting 0/15 off 4 from there Georges River were 8/96 we were right in it! From there Georges river put together a late partnership. Dipan bowled really well (0-5 off 3) but in the end they got us. A really close game with no shortage of effort from the boys but yet again: "Catches win Matches!"
Round 2

Didn't get a report - some busy boys. But I'm sure they'll tell you how great it was watching Patty-Day make it a Patty-Weekend with his second 5-for in two days, and then knocking off the runs in quick time. Getting the win, earning your Sunday arvo back and basking in the satisfaction of a solid performance - yeah pretty good!
Round 4

D Ford 4/19, D Brady 2/23, B Johnston 2/43
Warringah won by 44 runs.
Having kicked off the season in style with 3 from 3, the fixture against our traditional rivals Auburn would present a bigger challenge. It's never an easy away trip to Mona Park, so an away trip to Graham's Reserve (Manly) is pretty good, and the OMIG were salivating like a pavlovian-puppy litter for this Round 4 fixture.
The Green Men won the toss and didn't hesitate to bat. We made a measured start of 0-21 off the first 10 overs before a sniper on the grassy Graham's knoll took matters into his own hands, waywardly striking DB in the heel. DB was literally on one leg, and after a brief debate about the laws of cricket relating to snipers and runners, DB was 'Granted' a runner, proceeding to clear the rope for a quickfire 42* retired. Shortly before that, Waity was dismissed for an important 28 and was only too happy to remain as DB's runner. Grant Hooker and David "Fordy" Ford then continued to build on the momentum that Lee Harvey Oswald started, the greenies going into drinks 1-90 off 20 overs. Refreshed and continuing where they left off, Grant and Fordy banked a classy 40* retired each before a fluent 20 from Kev Davies and contributions from Dave Rosnell, Guy Davies, James Wright and Greg Allsop got us to 4-205 from our 40 overs. We felt this was a par score on the Graham's deck and credit to the Auburn bowlers who didn't allow us to run riot in the final stages.
The tea interval was punctuated by the soundtrack of DB tapping his health fund card on Rick Howard's HICAPS terminal, tape tearing, Rick asking "How does that feel DB?" quickly followed by a grunting groan from a grimacing DB - we translated this to mean "Really well thank you Rick. I can comfortably bowl 8 overs of leggies". Delivering a double-shot of positive energy, DB's ongoing treatment meant we could eliminate from thought the fact Guy "Gravies" Davies' knee was completely f***'d.
Speaking of which, BJ tossed the new ball to Gravies. He and Greg "Buckets" Allsop (who bowed beautifully for 0-11, 5 overs) kept a tight rein on the Auburn batters inside their first 10 overs. It was really important not to ask Guy about his knee because we already knew it was f***'d and we just don't need to give oxygen to negative energy - in retrospect though, huge effort from the big guy who's heart bleeds green. Left-arm orthodox was then deployed at both ends with contrasting results. Dean Storey (1 for 29) delivering his variety in a miserly fashion while the Auburn batters took a bit of a liking to BJ (2 for 43), and at the half way point, Auburn were on top at 1-96 off 20 overs. But we've been in this position before. We were one bowler short (only one, because Gravies and DB were fine) and Fordy offered to bowl a few leggies. What followed was the 4-prong spin attack again applying the 'second-twenty-squeeze', allowing Auburn to scavenge just 23 runs from 10 overs after drinks - the Green Men took the game back. We were led by that titanic competitor, DB (2 for 23), on one-leg (but again guys, negative energy… doesn't need to be mentioned) and the 'sixth bowler' Fordy (4 for 19) who bamboozled the batters in an absolute master-class. In the process of suffocating the life out of the Auburn innings (161 all out), Rick bagged a remarkable 3 stumpings, Dean Story took his first wicket for the Men In Green, Buckets took a one-handed spec-y, Wrighty was like a leopard in the field, and apart from a bit of drama about DB's heel during the tea break, the injuries to DB and Gravies didn't enter our minds at any stage - just channel positive, ignore the negative… just pretend it isn't there.
Cracking win again for the OMIG to go 4 from 4, and we look forward to carrying this momentum deep into the season. 3 weeks off (or in rehab) before we take on St Clair United at Weldon Oval on 8th December.
Shout out to some recent achievements of our Masters and Classics brothers:
* Rick Howard represented NSW in the O/60's championships last week, finishing runners-up to VIC in a close final.
* Simon Waddington represented NSW in the O/50's championships the week before, also finishing runners-up to VIC.
* Alun Kelly represented Australia in the 2024 World Hockey Masters in Auckland last week, finishing 5th.

With the Classical MIGs embarking on their First away trip to the picturesque Acton oval 2 from 2, arriving with an air of confidence and a pep in their step. Lindfield won the toss and promptly deciding to throw the pads on getting first crack at the batting paradise that awaited them. New ball bowlers Greg (IPL) Allsop and Rob (Perpetual motion) Melch started strongly keeping the run rate down forcing the first false shot and Robs First wicket CT David (DJ) Jeff's.
With some scratching around and some near opportunities unrewarded Skipper Neil (Not out ) Barnett decided it was time for Simon (Baggy Green) Waddo and Giles (Gilo) Park to ring a breakthrough. This proving a good move with Baggy Green moving quickly into the wickets Collum for number 2. Supported brilliantly by Gilo taking Classical MIGs into the first break seeing Lindfield on 2-62.
Skipper (Not Out ) Barnett pulled the MIGs aside for some words of advice proving to be the tonic that was needed to get the MIGs rumbling. Going back with Baggy Green and Gilo after drinks saw MIGs throwing themselves around the field saving runs lead by the evergreen Simon (Cliffy) Lyons putting 20 year olds to shame. Baggy Green picking up his 2nd saw him finish his impressive spell with 2 under the belt. Introduction of Cliffy to join Gilo bowling well for 3 Cheapies continuing to find an infectious energy helping his bowling Partner Gilo to pick up his first. Gilo finishing with his usual tight impressive 1 for not many. This Making Way for the inform Chris (sticky fingers) Obrien to show his craft, not disappointing. With not two balls the same the batters struggled to get anything going at a time they really needed to accelerate finishing with 1- 31 of his allotted however figures not showing how well he bowled.
Finishing of the innings in tandem with DJ who bowled straight and accurately forcing the struggling Lindfield batters to play shots they weren't up to finishing with 2-3 with. Ct from Rick (back seat ) Howard and a bowled. With a run out also from Sticky Fingers to Backseat saw Warringah MIGs looking to chase 8-153. Striding out to the middle was Ross (Class is permanent) Trewartha and Simon (Baggy Green) Waddo. Right from ball 1 Baggy green and Class putting pressure on the openers seeing Lindfield scrambling like ants chasing pig skin easing the pressure of MIGs as we were of to a flyer. Unfortunately Baggy green saw one scoot along the ground as he went back to pull trapping him in font for 13.
Strolling to the Middle was Neil (not out ) Barnett who had the best seat in the house to watch Class go 6 6 seeing him retire on 30. In strides David (DJ) Jeff's playing some beautiful shots with Not out looking like they were doing it comfortably before DJ unfortunately for him saw a middle don drive caught low down ending on 13. Stolky didn't trouble the scorers being trapped in front by a nude straight one. This bought Rick (backseat ) Howard to the crease. Not out playing some beautiful shots saw him soon retired on 30. In comes Mike (Birds) Barrow for his first match starting where he left of last year with some delicious shots along with Back seat seeing the MIGs run rate sky rocket placing us in a comfortable position. Unfortunately being Ct for 16.
With Backseat snapping those wrists in both conventional and not conventional ways saw him hit it to all part as of the ground retiring on 30 and into the car of to Brisbane (good luck at the Nationals Back seat ) This saw Greg (IPL ) Allsop and Rob (perpetual motion ) Melch nock a few on the head to finish the match 4-154 of 33.5 with a comfortable victory to classical MIGs. The match as always was played in good spirits with the Classical MIGs representing their club and themselves with honour.
